The group harbors only patients who received the diagnosis of peritoneal mesothelioma after surgery. All patients are included in this group.

The CGH arrays will be realized on frozen samples (for the comparative genomic analysis).

DNA and RNA extraction will be performed in Lyon University hospital (genomic platform) using commercially available kit. Percentage of tumors cells will be controlled by stained section before extraction. The CGH arrays will be realized on frozen samples in Lille (genomic platform). Pangenomic Agilent array will be used. Micro-array include 180000 probes. Analysis will be performed in Lille (genomic platform / department of BioInformatics) with Marie Brevet. Data will be processed from the log2 transformed data into normalization with the WACA method. Then copy number variation will then be identified with Circular Binary Segmentation. Copy number variations will be called as gain or deletion according to the log2 ratio distribution and the percent of tumoral cells. Using matched tumoral and normal DNA will eliminate Copy Number Polymorphisms. We will construct non supervised hierarchical analyses to study the classification of peritoneal mesothelioma based on copy number variation

comparative genomic analysis

Peritoneal mesothelioma is a rare disease representing one third of all mesothelioma and nothing is known about molecular characteristics of this disease. As main cancers, genetic heterogeneity is probable. This genomic profiling associates Comparative Genomic Hybridization (CGH) array, BAP1 sequencing and gene expression in order to discover a biomarker that could be used in the treatment of this rare disease. Corresponding histopathological and immunohistochemical report as all clinical data are available. All data with be merged to underline a few genes of interest on which we will focus our next investigations. Depending of our preliminary results, BAP1 mutations are expected, as it was also described in pleural mesothelioma. Mutations in oncogenic drivers that could be targeted by specific therapy will be on particular interest in management of this rare disease with bad prognosis.

This is a single institution, open label, pilot study of bevacizumab and the polyvalent vaccine-KLH conjugate + OPT-821 in patients with recurrent epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer.

A maximum of 6 doses of the polyvalent-KLH vaccine and OPT-821 will be administered to each patient as per the schedule. Bevacizumab will be administered once every two weeks until week 11 and then once every three weeks according to the schedule. When the 6 vaccinations of the polyvalent-KLH vaccine +OPT821 are completed, patients may still continue to receive bevacizumab on the once every three week schedule.

The immune system of the body has the ability to fight and eliminate infections and cancers. Immune treatments, such as in this study, seek to teach the immune system to find and destroy cancer cells. The purpose of this study is to test whether it is safe to treat the cancer with a vaccine and another drug called bevacizumab (also known as Avastin).

A PILOT STUDY OF A POLYVALENT VACCINE-KLH CONJUGATE + OPT-821 GIVEN IN COMBINATION WITH BEVACIZUMAB IN PATIENTS WITH RECURRENT EPITHELIAL OVARIAN, FALLOPIAN TUBE, OR PRIMARY PERITONEAL CANCER WHO ARE IN SECOND OR GREATER COMPLETE OR PARTIAL CLINICAL REMISSION

Patients must have IgM titer \>1:80, or a fourfold increase in prevailing antibody titer if present at baseline. Twenty-one patients would be accrued, and if \>8 of 21 patients should meet these criteria for three or more antigens based on the immune response criteria, the study would be considered positive.

Progression is defined as at least a 20% increase in the sum of diameters of target lesions. The sum must also demonstrate an absolute increase of at least 5mm.

This is a phase I study of 131I-8H9 for patients with DSRCT and other 8H9-reactive solid tumors metastatic to the peritoneum.

Patients will be administered therapeutic dose of IP 131I-8H9 per the dose escalation regimen. 131I-8H9 pharmacokinetics will be studied by serial blood draws from indwelling venous lines. 131I-8H9 biodistribution will be studied by a single gamma camera scan about 5 days after IP injection where feasible.

A phase I study of Intraperitoneal Radioimmunotherapy with 131 I-omburtamab in patients \>1 year of age with desmoplastic small round cell tumors and other solid tumors involving the peritoneum.

The purpose of this study is to test the safety of a new medicine called antibody 8H9 injected into the lining of the abdomen or peritoneum, where the tumor is. This medicine is an antibody or protein which binds to certain tumors, including DSCRT. There is a small number of DSCRT which do not bind with 8H9. If the tumor does not bind with 8H9, you might not benefit from this treatment. The investigators want to find out what effects, good and/or bad, it has.

This antibody is made in mice. Radioactive iodine can be bound to this antibody to deliver radiation to the tumor. The investigators wish to determine the safety of radiolabeled 8H9 at different dose levels. This is the first study using 131I-8H9 in the peritoneum.

Will undergo structural and functional MRI scans on a Siemens 3T Magnetom Tim Trio research scanner located at the Citigroup Biomedical Imaging Center at Weill Cornell Medical Center (WCMC), which is adjacent to the MSKCC campus. Patients do not undergo routine clinical brain MRIs as part of their assessment and treatment, and the brain MRI scans to be performed in this study are for research purposes only. The MRI scan takes approximately 60 minutes to complete, and about 15 minutes will be required for instructions prior to initiating the study. The MRI studies will be reviewed by a neuroradiologist (Dr. Karimi) to rule out gross structural CNS abnormalities; in case any abnormalities considered to require clinical follow-up are detected, the subject will be contacted and referred for follow-up with their treating physician. Patients will undergo a brief neuropsychological test battery at MSKCC or at Citigroup Biomedical Imaging Center at WCMC

The purpose of this study is to learn about possible changes in brain anatomy and function, and in thinking abilities, such as memory skills, in patients with ovarian cancer who receive treatment with chemotherapy. Cancer patients treated with chemotherapy may experience changes in thinking abilities, and these may interfere with quality of life. Most of the research to date has involved patients with breast cancer, and there are no studies in women with ovarian cancer looking at at treatment-related changes in brain anatomy and function.

The procedure will begin with washings (peritoneal) and two assessments of the extent of peritoneal disease. First, a four quadrant inspection of the peritoneal cavity under white light, this is the standard of care assessment. Then, a repeat four quadrant inspection of the peritoneal cavity under NBI will be done, this is the only experimental component of the design. White light imaging will always be done first, followed by NBI. For those patients scheduled for thorascopic procedures: The procedure will begin with sampling of pleural effusions when clinically indicated. Then there will be two assessments of the pleural surfaces. First, an inspection of the pleural cavity under white light, this is the standard of care assessment. Then, a repeat inspection under NBI, this is the only experimental component of the design. White light imaging will always be done first, followed by NBI.

The intervention is visual assessment of the peritoneal or pleural surface with NBI followed by biopsy and photographic documentation of any abnormal lesions. Photograph or video of abnormality(ies) under white light and NBI.

Narrow Band Imaging (NBI)

The purpose of this study is to determine whether narrowband imaging (NBI) makes it easier for a surgeon to see cancer.

NBI is a kind of light. Normally, white light is used during surgery. White light uses many wavelengths of light. NBI only uses two wavelengths which highlight the blood vessels. This makes it easier for the surgeon to see blood vessels. Tumors often have more blood vessels than normal tissue. As a result, NBI may make it easier for the surgeon to see small tumors.

In this study the surgeon will look with both normal white light and NBI. This way a comparison can be made to determine which is superior.

Improved identification of tumors allows doctors and patients to make informed decisions about whether treatment is needed after surgery. It also provides additional information to determine which treatments may be best.

Peritoneal metastases appear in a great proportion of patients affected by gastric carcinoma. Involved mechanisms are poorly understood though experimentally it has been demonstrated that neoplastic cells exfoliated from primary tumor can only implant and proliferate in areas of damaged peritoneum. Objectives: to study ultra-structure of peritoneal surface by electronic microscopy in control subjects and in patients with early or locally advanced gastric cancer looking for spontaneous changes in peritoneal surface not related with surgical injury.

18 out of 32 cases were eligible for analysis. Four patients operated on for benign diseases served as control and 14 patients with operable local gastric adenocarcinoma (4 mucosa/submucosa/muscular y 10 serosa lesions) were studied. At the beginning of surgery, a 2 x 2 cm. sample from macroscopically normal visceral peritoneum at mesenterium root was carefully obtained, washed with saline and fixed in glutaraldehyde solution. Besides a sample of peritoneal washing fluid was studied to exclude patients with free cancer cells. Peritoneal tissue was fixed during 24 hours and then all samples were evaluated by electronic microscope.
