Participants in the intervention group will receive an interactive Colorectal Cancer self-Management enhancement smartphone-based psychosocial intervention programme (iCanManage) in addition to routine care provided by the respective hospitals.

Participants in the control group will receive routine care provided by the respective hospitals . The routine care includes normal consultation with their attending physician, information concerning treatment plans, such as surgical procedures and its associated risks, preoperative preparations and postoperative care, treatment after discharge and/or subsequent adjunct therapy if required.

The iCanManage consists of two components: (1a) Existing functions from the BuddyCare mobile application that provide a comprehensive 29 day-by-day perioperative guide for patients who will be undergoing colorectal elective surgery; (1b) a dashboard for healthcare professionals to monitor patients and their caregivers' well-being as well as allow mutual communication; and (2) Newly developed digitalised psychosocial content (e.g., mindfulness-based activities with audio cover, video materials related to positive psychology, patient ambassadors' success stories and relevant psychoeducation) tailored for colorectal cancer patients and caregivers, with the aim of providing them emotional and psychosocial support.

An interactive Colorectal Cancer self-Management enhancement smartphone-based psychosocial intervention programme (iCanManage)

This study aims to develop a smartphone-based psychosocial intervention for patients with colorectal cancer and their family caregivers and to improve patients' confidence in self-care, psychological well-being, social support, quality of life, and satisfaction with care, as well as caregivers' burden, psychological well-being, and quality of life. The study also aims to explore patients' and their caregivers' perceptions of the intervention and routine care. A multi-centre two-arm experimental study design is used in this study. A total of 100 patient-caregiver dyads will be recruited and randomly allocated to either the control group (receiving routine care alone) or the intervention group (receiving routine care plus the psychosocial intervention). After completed the study, 15 patient-caregiver dyads will be invited for interviews to explore their perceptions on the intervention and/or routine care. This study will generate evidence on the effectiveness of the easily accessible and sustainable smartphone-based psychosocial intervention.

1. Aims The aims of the study are: (1) To develop an interactive Colorectal Cancer self-Management enhancement smartphone-based psychosocial intervention programme (iCanManage program); (2) To examine the effectiveness of iCanManage for colorectal cancer patients and their caregivers in improving patients' health outcomes including self-efficacy (primary outcome), psychological well-being (anxiety \& depression), social support, health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and satisfaction with care, as well as caregivers' burden, psychological well-being, and quality of life (QoL) (primary outcome); and (3) To explore patients' and their caregivers' perceptions of iCanManage and routine care.
2. Hypotheses Over 3 months' follow-up, compared to patients in the control group,patients who receive iCanManage in addition to hospital routine care will report significantly: (1) higher levels of self-efficacy, social support, HRQoL and satisfaction with care, and (2) lower levels of anxiety and depression; whilst caregivers will report significantly lower levels of burden, anxiety and depression, and higher level of QoL.
3. Methodology A multi-centre two-arm randomised controlled trial will be conducted at two public hospitals in Singapore. A total of 100 patient-caregiver dyads will be recruited via convenience sampling. Participants (patient-caregiver dyads) will be randomly allocated to either the intervention (receiving iCanManage in addition to hospital routine care) or the control group (receiving only hospital routine care). The aforementioned outcomes of both patients and caregivers will be measured at baseline (start of access to iCanManage), 2-weeks post-surgery (end of access to iCanManage) and 3-months post-surgery. Descriptive statistics, repeated measures analysis of covariance, univariate analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) will be used to analyse the data. At the end of the trial, semi-structured interviews will be conducted to explore 30 patients' and 30 caregivers' perceptions on iCanManage and or routine care. The transcribed interview data will be analysed using a thematic analysis.
4. Significance of the study This study will generate evidence on the effectiveness of the easily accessible and sustainable iCanManage. Should the quantitative and qualitative findings support the feasibility and effects of the intervention, it can be adopted by hospital policymakers as added routine care to enhance patients' self-management ability throughout their surgery journey.

A Psychosocial Intervention for Patients With Colorectal Cancer and Their Family Caregivers

The Effectiveness of an Interactive Colorectal Cancer Self-Management Enhancement Smartphone-based Psychosocial Intervention Programme (iCanManage) on Outcomes of Patients With Colorectal Cancer and Their Family Caregivers

The individual participant data will only be available for researchers involved in this study.

The level of patient's self-efficacy will be measured by the 10-item General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSE). The General Self-Efficacy (GSE) Scale is a 4-point Likert scale (1 = not at all true, 2 = hardly true, 3 = moderately true, 4 = exactly true). The sum score ranges between 10 and 40 with a higher score indicating more self-efficacy.

Caregivers' quality of life will be measured by 35-item Caregiver Quality of Life Index Cancer (CQOLC). Each item is scored from 0 (not at all) to 4 (very much). The total possible score is 140, with higher scores representing better quality of life.

Patients' anxiety and depression will be measured by the 14-item Hospital Anxiety and Depression scale (HADS). The Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale comprises of 14-item self-report scale, 7 items for anxiety and 7 for depression. Each item on the HADS was scored on a four point (0-3) so the possible scores ranged from 0-21 for anxiety and 0-21 for depression. The scores of 8-10 in each scale may be suggestive of borderline risk of anxiety or depression and 11 or higher were indicative of probable 'caseness' of anxiety or depression (Pritchard, 2011; Snaith, 2003).

The level of patients social support will be measured by the 19-item Medical Outcomes Study Social Support Survey (MOS-SSS). The Medical Outcomes Study Social Support Survey (MOS - SSS) measures four aspects of social support including (1) tangible support; (2) affectionate support; (3) positive social interaction and (4) emotional-informational support (Shebourne \& Stewart, 1991; Wang, Zheng, He, \& Thompson, 2013). Without regarding the source of support, the frequency of support available to each participant was captured through response indications from none-of-the-time (= 1) to all-of-the-time (= 5) on a 5-point scale. Tabulated scores for each dimension are then rescaled to a 0 to 100 range, where higher scores indicate higher support availability (McDowell, 2006).

Patients' health-related quality of life will be measured by the 29-item European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire - Colorectal cancer specific (EORTC QLQ-CR29). The EORTC QLQ-CR29 has 29 questions comprises of four functional scales and 18 symptoms scales. All the items are scored on a four-point Likert scale (1-4). Raw scores will be linearly transformed to a scale scores ranging from 0 to100 according to EORTC scoring manual (Fayers et al., 2001). A high scale score for functional scale represents a better functioning, while a high score for a symptom scale represents a worse symptom.

Patients' satisfaction with care will be measured by the 1-item 6-point Ordinal Descriptive Scale (ODS) from 1 (very dissatisfied) to 6 (very satisfied).

Caregivers' burden will be measured by the 21-item Caregiver Reaction Assessment (CRA). The CRA contains subscales of self-esteem, family support, finances, schedule, and health. Each item is scored on a five-point Likert scale, ranging from strongly disagree (score 1) to strongly agree (score 5). The items constituting a particular subscale are averaged to generate subscale scores (ranging from 1 to 5). A higher score on the self-esteem subscale indicates a more positive effect of caregiving, higher scores on the other subscales indicate greater negative effects of caregiving in those domains.

LUNGevity Foundation, a non-profit lung cancer organization, wants to learn about living with lung cancer from the point of view of people with lung cancer and their family and friends who provide care. To do this, we have an online study designed to better understand how treatments people living with lung cancer receive impact their quality of life. Participants will complete surveys once a month for 12 months.

What does participation involve?

3. Complete these surveys on a smartphone, tablet, or computer at your convenience and receive an e-gift card for your time.

PEER is an international study, that is Institutional Review Board (IRB) approved and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliant.

The study objective is to collect longitudinal data to facilitate a rigorous understanding of the diagnostic and treatment experiences of people diagnosed with lung cancer and to identify determinants of treatment heterogeneity. Study data will be used to understand the diagnostic and treatment pathways, explore patient-experience data in different domains (financial impact/quality of life/symptoms) and test the hypothesis that different classes of therapies (chemotherapy/ immunotherapy/ targeted therapy/ surgery/ radiation) impact patient experience (eg., physical function).

Study participants will consent and register for the study and complete an initial baseline survey. They will then be followed for 12 months and receive a monthly survey (11 surveys in total) via email. The development of the surveys was guided by input from patients, clinicians, FDA experts, and incorporates questions from existing patient-reported outcomes (PRO) measures.

Summarized study results will also be posted on LUNGevity's website. External researchers will be able to apply to have limited access to de-identified data.

Project PEER: Understanding the Lung Cancer Patient ExperiEnce in the Real-World Setting

Exploratory descriptive analyses to understand the concerns participants who enrolled in 2020 and 2021 experienced with respect to their treatment and COVID-19

Patient-reported treatments will be explored in relation to other clinical data provided (e.g., biomarker presence) and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines for those clinical characteristics at the time of treatment.

Patterns based on disease staging and treatment class will be explored using the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life 30-item questionnaire (EORTC QLQ-C30), the Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Symptom Assessment Questionnaire (NSCLC-SAQ), and a side effect questionnaire to explore these patient-reported outcomes.

Scores for the EORTC QLQ-C30 are transformed so that for each subscale the range is 0-100. For functioning subscales, higher scores indicate better functioning, and for symptoms higher scores indicate more symptom burden. Scores for the NSCLC-SAQ range from 0-20, with higher scores indicating more severe symptomology.

Test whether different classes of therapies (e.g., chemotherapy/ immunotherapy/ targeted therapy/ surgery/ radiation) impact patient experience (e.g., side effects, functioning). Both within and between patient experiences will be investigated. Results from Project PEER will be compared currently existing clinical trial data.

Cancer and cancer treatments are accompanied by several possible side effects, such as nausea, hot flashes, fatigue, drowsiness, etc. Complementary and integrative therapies, such as acupuncture, could be used to manage these symptoms. The aim of this study for our research team is to have an idea of the interest of cancer patients and caregivers in acupuncture. This is a prospective, interventional study. Cancer patients and caregivers will be approached at the day care clinic by a health care worker to participate in this study. They will be asked to complete a questionnaire about their interest in acupuncture and their motivation, what symptoms they would need it for, where they would like this acupuncture to take place, whether they are willing to pay for it, and whether they would be interested in an information session about acupuncture.

In geriatric oncology, caregivers are submitted to a risk of exhaustion. To investigate the clinical risk factor of exhaustion, the researchers propose to conduct a prospective observational study during 6 months phone follow up of the caregivers. The recruitment will take place during the oncogeriatric assessment consultation.

The primary purpose aim to describe the caregiver of patient with 70 years old or more, suffered from cancer and for which a treatment is planned, along with their long term evolution.

Investigators will test the effectiveness of adaptive strategies on timely adoption of cervical cancer treatment in Botswana using a pragmatic trial design.

Investigators will test the effectiveness of adaptive strategies on timely adoption of cervical cancer treatment in Botswana using a hybrid (type III) and pragmatic Sequential Multiple Assignment Randomized Trial (SMART) design. The adaptive strategies are designed to target patient- and system-level determinants identified in preliminary data, including delayed communication of results, individual and structural barriers to accessing treatment, and suboptimal care coordination between referring and cancer treatment clinics. The strategies draw upon key principles in behavioral economics and are supported by systematic evidence of the effectiveness of nudge strategies in preventive, HIV, and cancer care. The overarching rationale for the study is that enhancing coordination, communication, and navigation through centralized outreach and nudge strategies will increase timely treatment adoption and be scalable and sustainable in the long-term.

The aim of this study is to investigate the opinions of patients who have undergone bone tumor resection surgery about post-op exercises.

Semi-structured in-depth individual interviews will be conducted with patients who have undergone bone tumor surgery. In in-depth individual interviews, the same questions will be asked to all participants and the verbal answers to these questions will be recorded with voice recorders. Compared to taking notes by hand; It will be preferable to record the conversation with a voice recorder because it has advantages such as recording all the interviews and allowing the interviewer to focus on the interview. Thematic analysis method will be used in the evaluation of the data.

It is planned to conduct the empowerment program online (zoom session). For this, to protect each individual's privacy, a quiet, bright and ventilated, spacious physical environment and technological elements such as computers, headphones, microphones and internet connection are needed. The empowerment program was planned as a total of 10 sessions, one session per week. In the program, goals and objectives have been established for each session. These aims and objectives will be shared with the participants before each session. The application time of each session is planned as an average of 90 minutes.

This study aims to decrease cancer survivors' intrusive ruminative thoughts and cancer-related fatigue and increase their purposive ruminative thoughts and psychological resilience. In this context, an online (Zoom) 10-session empowerment program based on the literature will be implemented for cancer survivors.

From the time they were diagnosed with cancer, individuals struggle with ruminative thoughts about why they have this disease, whether they will get better during the treatment process, whether the disease will recur in the future, and cognitive, physical, and emotional fatigue, the cause of which cannot be fully explained. All these processes continue to negatively affect the lives of cancer survivors during the remission period. Studies show that when cancer survivors manage this stressful process well and learn effective coping methods, they can come out of it by developing their psychological resilience. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the effect of an empowerment program to be applied to cancer survivors' ruminative thoughts, cancer-related fatigue, and psychological resilience.

The hypotheses of this research are:

H 1-1: There is a difference between ruminative thinking scores at the end of the empowerment program applied to individuals with cancer in remission and in the follow-up measurement compared to the pre-program and control groups.

H 1-2: There is a difference between cancer-related fatigue scores at the end of the empowerment program applied to individuals with cancer in remission and in the follow-up measurement compared to the pre-program and control groups.

H 1-3: There is a difference between psychological resilience scores at the end of the empowerment program applied to individuals with cancer in remission and in the follow-up measurement compared to the pre-program and control groups.

Permission will be taken from Hacettepe University Oncology Hospital for the research. However, due to the pandemic conditions, to protect the health of both researchers and participants, group studies were moved to the online platform and the sessions were planned as online (zoom sessions). The sample size of the study was calculated with the G-Power 3.1 program. Since a similar study could not be found in the literature, it was determined that the sample should consist of 56 people, 28 in the intervention group and 28 in the control group, by calculating with .80 power and .05 error level, based on the medium effect size for the .25 variance analysis suggested by Cohen. However, it is foreseen that it would be appropriate to reach 10% more people (Total 62) of the total number calculated considering that there may be a loss of participants during the process and to be participants in the 31 intervention and 31 control group.

Empowerment Program for Cancer Survivors

The Effect of an Empowerment Program on Ruminative Thoughts, Fatigue, and Psychological Resilience of Cancer Survivors

It was developed by Cann et al. (2011). The 20-item scale has subscales to evaluate two forms of rumination, "intrusive" and "deliberate". The first ten items measure intrusive rumination, and the second ten items measure deliberate rumination. Each item in the scale is in a 4-point Likert type and is scored as 0 = never, 3 = often. There is no total score in this scale, but subscale scores reveal rumination scores. Scores on each subscale range from 0 to 30. High scores obtained from each sub-dimension of the scale indicate the existence of a ruminative thought tendency towards the said dimension.

It was developed by Okayama et al. in 2003. Consisting of 15 items, the scale has a 5-point Likert type ranging from 'no' (1) to 'too much' (5). It consists of three sub-dimensions: physical (items 1,2,3,6,9,12,15), emotional (items 5,8,11,14), cognitive (items 4,7,10,13). . The range of scores to be taken from the scale is between 0 and 28 points for the physical subscale, and 0 to 16 points for the emotional and cognitive subscale. Total fatigue is the sum of these subscale scores and the maximum total score is 60. The higher the total score, the more severe the fatigue is considered.

It was developed by Connor and Davidson (2003). The 25-item scale is in a 5-point Likert structure as 'not at all true' (0) and 'always true' (4). The scale consists of 3 subscales: 'Perseverance and Personal Efficiency' (15 items), 'Resistance to Negativity' (6 items) and 'Tension to Spirituality' (3 items). The lowest and highest values vary between 0-100, and the higher score obtained from the scale indicates greater psychological resilience.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of Self-Management Program based on the Individual and Family Self-management Theory on fatigue, daily living activities and well-being of cancer patients.

This is a randomized controlled trial consisting of two groups: experimental and control.

The Brief Fatigue Inventory is a validated, self reported instrument assessing average fatigue.

The Katz Index of Independence is a validated, self reported instrument assessing average daily living activities.
