Breast cancer survivors, from diagnosis until the end of life, go through many transitions. One major transition is the significant decrease of physical activity immediately after diagnosis. Despite the known benefits of physical activity-speeding recovery time and reduced cancer recurrence risk-only 1 in 3 survivors met physical activity recommendations of 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity per week. Physical activity interventions have shown effectiveness in helping breast cancer survivors increase physical activity during treatment, but limited evidence-based physical activity interventions have been incorporated into the clinic and community. To address this limitation, the investigators are partnering with the UTMB breast cancer support group to conduct a 12-week physical activity intervention, Pink Warrior.

The goal of this study is to compare an intervention that uses active games versus an intervention uses pedometer to encourage physical activity such as walking within breast cancer survivors in active cancer treatment. The study will include breast cancer survivor between the ages of 18 - 70 whom currently gets less than 150 minutes of planned physical activity per week and received a breast cancer diagnosis within 0 to 6 months. Participants will be randomized to participate in the support group using the active video game-based physical activity intervention (Wii and Xbox active games) or to participate in the existing UTMB breast cancer support group with pedometers (Digi-Walker CW-700/701). The investigators hypothesize that by engaging in active video gaming, breast cancer survivors will be motivated to initiate and maintain physical activity during treatment. This will ultimately increase functional capacity and prevent functional disability in breast cancer survivors.

Increasing and maintaining physical activity among female breast cancer (BC) survivors during treatment remains an unresolved problem in BC survivorship care. BC survivors, from diagnosis until the end of life, go through many transitions. One major transition is the significant decline of physical activity immediately after diagnosis. Despite the known benefits of physical activity-speeding recovery time and reduced cancer recurrence risk-less than 30% of survivors met physical activity recommendations. Physical activity interventions have shown effectiveness in helping BC survivors increase activity during treatment, but limited evidence-based activity interventions have been disseminated into the clinic and community. To address this limitation, we are partnering with the UTMB breast cancer support group to conduct a 12-week physical activity intervention, Pink Warrior, which will investigate the feasibility of implementing active video game-based physical activity intervention among BC survivors undergoing treatment within the support group setting. Participants (N = 60) will be randomized to participate in the support group using the active video game-based physical activity intervention or to participate in the existing UTMB breast cancer support group with pedometers. Our specific aims are:

Aim 1: Evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of active video game-based physical activity intervention among BC survivors undergoing treatment within the support group setting. Measures of feasibility will include weekly attendance records, number of completed home-based worksheets, number of participants completing the program activities, technological issues, and adverse events.

Aim 2: Compare the support group using the active video game-based physical activity intervention to the existing UTMB breast cancer support group with pedometer. Primary outcomes will be changes in physical activity. Secondary outcomes will be changes in physical function, dietary pattern, and quality of life.

Aim 3: Develop tools for implementation of the Pink Warrior intervention within the clinic and community settings. A trainer's manual for the Pink Warrior intervention will be developed and UTMB Breast Cancer Support Group facilitators will be trained by research staff to implement the program.

INCAM-study is a multicenter, prospective, randomized controlled trial. The aim of the study is to test the effectiveness of psychoeducative intervention when offered in hospital setting as a component of routine breast cancer care. The hypotheses are; - that breast cancer patients participating in psychoeducative interventions focusing on coping will experience better health-related quality of life than those who participate in the hospital standardised psychoeducative intervention. - that coping styles are associated with the immune system.

Women operated for breast cancer often experience psychosocial problems for several years. Although, meta-analyses have clearly demonstrated that the efficacy of psychosocial support groups, little is known about the effectiveness of this intervention when offered in the hospital setting as a component of routine breast cancer care.

A few studies have found that psychological intervention reduce emotional distress and enhance immune responses,but if there is an association between coping styles and immune system is not clear.

440 breast cancer patients at two Hospital will be randomized into the study. Both Hospital have standardised psychoeducative interventions as a component of routine breast cancer care. Both Hospital will have two groups, the standardised groups and the experimental groups. Participants will answer the same standardised questionnaires before surgery,2,6,12 months and 3 and 5 years after the interventions. Blood sample will be drawn at all assessments. The questionnaires are the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, the Mini-mental Adjustment to Cancer Scale, the EORTC QLQ-BR32, the Life Orientation Test-Revised.

All groups are facilitated by two nurse specialists and follow a structured program. The standardised groups consists of three weekly 2-hours sessions and the experimental groups will consists of six weekly 2-hours session. The intervention protocol has been approved by the Norwegian Committee for medical research Ethics.

Knowledge from this study will be used to develop a manual for hospital based group interventions for breast cancer patients.

Background: The end of treatment is for cancer patients the beginning of a critical rehabilitation period including numerous physical, emotional, professional and cognitive challenges. Specific interventions adapted to this post-treatment period need thus to be designed. Interventions such as group cognitive-behavioral therapy and hypnosis have been shown to be effective. However, moderate effect sizes, no comprehensive description of the treatment interventions and assessments relying only on self-report measures warrant further investigation. This study aims to assess, in breast cancer patients at the end of treatment, the impact of a group intervention combining cognitive-behavioral therapy and hypnosis versus a group intervention on patient's adjustment and emotion self-regulation.

Design: This is a two-armed, longitudinal, randomized controlled trial. Breast cancer patients finishing their radiation therapy treatment will be randomized to either an immediate group intervention combining cognitive-behavioral therapy and hypnosis or a group intervention. Patients will be assessed at three time points during the first year following the end of treatment: at 1 (T1), 6 (T2) and 12 (T3) months after the end of treatment. Patients' adjustment will be assessed through questionnaires. Patient emotion self-regulation ability will be assessed through their ability to respond both subjectively (self-reported emotional state) and objectively (heart rate) to two emotion self-regulation tasks.

Discussion: It is hypothesized that a group intervention combining cognitive-behavioral therapy and hypnosis will be more effective than a group intervention. Results of this study will contribute to improving post-treatment care for breast cancer patients.

Clinical Problem and Significance: The incidence of neuroblastoma is about 30 cases a year in Taiwan. The five-year survival rate of neuroblastom is near 50% in Taiwan. Compared to the survival rate in Western countries, the treatment in Taiwan needs more efforts to improve. According to the report from the Childhood Cancer Foundation ROC, several children with neuroblastoma did not complete their treatment and or not received the protocol. In addition to the efforts in improving protocol, the reasons for those who drop-out and do not receive complete treatment need the investigators more attention to think of.

Purpose of Study: The main purpose is to evaluate the effects of nurse case manager model on caregivers' adaptation of disease uncertainty about then child with neuroblastorna.

Methods: A longitudinal and prospective design will be used to perform this study. Questionnaire survey and chart review will be the means of data collection for the part of quantative analysis. The qualitative method , semi-structural interview , also will be used to collect data regarding caregiver's perception of social support and adaptation at the same time of self-report of questionnaires survey .There are five points of time to collect data: Baseline (A), 3 months(B) , 6 months(C), 9 months(D),1 year(E) and 1.5 year(F) after eligible subjects agree to participate in the study.

Subjects: The study will use a convenience sample. Once the caregiver's child is on has been diagnosed with neuroblastoma will be recruited in this study.

Instruments: Three Chinese versions of Mishel Uncertainty in Illness-Parent Form , the self-reported socio-demographic questionnaire will be used to collect data. Process recording will be typed once finishing interview for further analysis.

Data Analysis: Quantitative data will be analyzed using SPSS 15.0 statistical software. The data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferred statistics. Content analysis and theme formation will be categorized to assist the interpretation of quantitative results.

Implication: The findings of this study will be expected of the effects of nurse care manager model on children with newoblastoma cancer survivors.

The Mind programme is an ACT, mindfulness and compassion intervention for women with breast cancer. It will include 8 weekly group sessions, with the duration of 120 minutes each, and will be delivered at the Radiotherapy Service of the CHUC or through an online platform. All participants will continue on receiving the recommended medical treatment for their clinical diagnosis.

The Mind programme for cancer patients was developed by this project PI through the integration of ACT, mindfulness and CFT components specifically adapted to the needs of a cancer population. This intervention aims at improving well-being, preventing subsequent distress, and promoting adaptation to the disease and posttreatment period. A recent pilot study presented preliminary findings on this intervention, suggesting high acceptability and efficacy in improving self-reported psychological health in breast cancer patients undergoing Radiotherapy treatment. Nevertheless, this study's small sample size, methodology (inactive control group), and exclusive reliance on self-reported data limit the interpretation and generalization of results, creating an avenue for the optimization and further testing of the programme through more robust and reliable methods. The aim of this project is therefore to optimize the Mind programme taking into consideration the results from its pilot study and to conduct a Randomized Controlled Trial on the efficacy of the intervention in improving not only mental health outcomes but also biological markers, as well as on its cost-effectiveness, in women with breast cancer. The superiority of the Mind programme will be compared to a support group intervention through the analysis of changes in cancer-specific quality of life, depressive symptoms and anxiety severity, psychological experiences, and immunological and epigenetics markers related to mental health and breast cancer prognosis. All participants will receive the intervention that shows better results.

Hexa(in)Flex Interview is a semi-structured interview that aims to assess qualitatively the subjective experience of the 6 core processes of the Psychological (In)Flexibility Model underlying ACT in women with breast cancer. The interview has two parts: 1) an introduction to the aims of the interview, as well as introductory questions regarding diagnostic information (e.g., duration of diagnosis, treatment phase, support network) and general coping and adaptation to the cancer diagnosis; 2) Five sections of open questions aiming to assess: experiential avoidance versus acceptance, cognitive fusion versus defusion, conceptual versus contextual self, Past and future conceptualized (auto-pilot) versus contact with present moment, and lack of values clarity and action versus commitment to valued action. Each section has instructions on how the interviewer should conduct the questioning, as well as additional tips and caveats that should be considered.

To collect data regarding resources used by participants outside the hospital setting, the research team developed a questionnaire adapted from the UK Cancer Costs Questionnaire (UKCC) Version 2.0 (http://blogs.ed.ac.uk/ukcc). Hospital costs will be taken from clinical registries.

Also, the investigators would like to learn more about what patients need and how they deal with this illness. This information can help us find ways to lessen physical and emotional strains. Part of the study tests an alternate way of giving emotional support through the Internet. By providing support online, patients can participate in the comfort of their home.

Patients'psychological symptom burden will be assessed by the set of questionnaires administered in part 1 of the study. scores of the assessments of coping (28-item Brief Cope), social support (6-item SSQ-SF), depressive symptoms (20-item Zung), and quality of life (36-item FACT-Lung).

The investigators will summarize acceptability and gather pilot data on the promise of the intervention. Acceptability in this study will be assessed through the enrollment rate (percentage of eligible individuals consented and recruited into the Internet-based discussion group). The adherence rate will be the percentage of enrolled patients who complete all virtual group sessions.

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center

We conducted a study using an evaluation assessment survey to assess the impact of the AMBER support groups on quality of life parameters, compliance with treatment appointments, and patient/family support. After reviewing preliminary results, we identified several recurrent themes, such as the need for health information, discrepancies around the extent of family support and disease disclosure, and an overall satisfaction with the support groups. To further examine these themes, we are initiating a qualitative research study using an in-depth interview guide. A trained interviewer bilingual in Arabic and English will conduct 10-15 in-depth interviews, to saturation, with AMBER's support group participants over a 6 month period.

The study involves a one-time qualitative assessment to explore key cultural influences on AMBER breast cancer survivors' health behavior. We will focus on self-efficacy in healthcare, coping with breast cancer, social networks of support, and culturally-sensitive support groups.
