The enrolled patients will be accepted submucosal injection of saline,then ultrasonography will performed(EUS+SIS group).So,stages of EUS in these early esophageal cancer will be recorded and compared with the pathological stages afer endoscopic mucosal resection(EMR) or endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD) or esophagectomy.

The enrolled patients will accept ordinary ultrasonography .So,stages of EUS in these early esophageal cancer will be recorded and compared with the pathological stages afer endoscopic mucosal resection(EMR) , endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD) or esophagectomy.

The patients will accepted submucosal injection of 5ml saline followed by ordinary endosonography(EUS) before surgery or endoscopic dissection.

Preoperative accurately staging T1a or T1b in early esophageal cancer is vital for the choices of treatment. At present, the main diagnostic method for early esophageal cancer is endoscopic ultrasound (EUS). However, the accuracy of EUS alone is poor. Thus, it is necessary to improve endoscopic ultrasound examination methods. This project is concerning on the efficacy of EUS combining with submucosal injection of saline for staging T1a and T1b-esophageal cancer. Patients and methods: 80 cases of pathological confirmed early esophageal cancer were randomly divided into two groups: endoscopic ultrasonography group (EUS group) and EUS combining with submucosal injecting saline group (EUS+SIS group). All the cases will be performance by endoscopic or surgical resection; postoperative pathologic diagnosis will be obtained involving echo, depth, margin and other features. The EUS results of two groups of patients will be compared with pathologic results. From comparison, the efficacy and accuracy of EUS+SIS for staging T1a and T1b in esophageal cancer patients will be validated. Through this study, the investigators may develop a routine diagnostic and accurately staging method for early esophageal cancer patients.

Efficacy Study of Endoscopic Ultrasound Combining With Submucosal Saline Injection for Pretreatment Staging of T1a and T1b in Patients With Early Esophageal Cancer

The stages judged from submucosal injection plus EUS or ordinary EUS will be compared with the pathological results after endoscopic or surgical resection.So the sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value,negative predictive value and diagnostic accuracy of either submucosal injection plus EUS or ordinary EUS for early esophageal cancer will be measured respectivly.

In the Dose Ranging part of the study, cohorts of 3 patients will be treated at increasing dose levels of GM-CSF DNA delivered subcutaneously (100, 400, or 800 mg), followed by administration of both peptides subcutaneously to the same site on day 5 or day 6. Patients will be treated monthly for three immunizations.

This is a pilot trial to investigate the use of GM-CSF DNA as an adjuvant for peptide vaccination in patients with metastatic melanoma. The objective of this study is to determine the safety and adjuvant effect of vaccination with the gene coding for human GM-CSF with a multi-epitope melanoma peptide vaccine (tyrosinase and gp100 peptides) in patients with AJCC stage IIB, IIC, III and IV melanoma who are HLA-A2+. We will assess whether use of GM-CSF DNA is safe and generates an immune response to peptides derived from antigens on melanoma cells.

Patients' peripheral blood mononuclear cells will be collected in order to measure the T cell responses induced by the vaccines. Toxicity will be assessed during this part of the study, although we do not expect to achieve a dose limiting toxicity (DLT). The dose for the second part of the study will be the maximum tolerated dose.

The second part of the study will assess the immunological efficacy of the vaccine. Nine patients will receive GM-CSF DNA delivered subcutaneously at one site, followed by administration of both peptides to the same site on day 5 or day 6, every month for three immunizations. A total of at least 18 patients is planned for both phases of the study. Patients' peripheral blood mononuclear cells will be collected in order to measure the T cell responses induced by the vaccines. Specifically, Elispot assays for CD8+ T cells responses against the peptides will be assessed, and will be the primary method to determine the generation of a specific immune response to the peptide antigens.

Investigators have a plan to conduct nested case-control study to investigate the association between serum cholesterol levels including TC, HDL-C, LDL-C, triglyceride (TG), apolipoproteins and gastric neoplasm. In addition, further analyses were performed to evaluate the possible role of the serum cholesterol as a predictor for the differentiation and prognosis of gastric neoplasm.

Although its incidence has declined, gastric cancer remains one of the most common causes of cancer morbidity and mortality worldwide.Since the stage of gastric cancer at the time of detection correlates with prognosis, secondary prevention is important. Screening of asymptomatic individuals for gastric cancer has been shown to increase the detection of early gastric cancer (EGC), which has a 5-year overall survival (OS) rate exceeding 90%.

Gastric carcinogenesis is a multi-factorial process that includes environmental, socioeconomic, and lifestyle factors. Many of risk factors, including dietary factors, chronic atrophic gastritis, intestinal metaplasia, and H. pylori infection, alcohol consumption, and aspirin have been investigated. Although the specific correlation between serum cholesterol and gastric cancer is not fully understood, inverse relationships have been observed between serum total cholesterol (TC) levels and cancer, and recent analyses of randomized controlled trials showed significant inverse associations between high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and the risk of incident cancers. Lower lipoprotein cholesterol in cancer patients may be due to the enhanced activity of the lipoprotein cholesterol receptor pathway and to the increased demand for cholesterol during tumor development and lymphatic spread. Some suggested that the preexisting tumor might have resulted in low serum cholesterol, which is called "preclinical cancer effect" or "unsuspected sickness". In another study, LDL-C has been reported to affect host immune system cells.

In our previous study, investigators found that serum HDL-C and LDL-C levels were associated with the risk, resectability, and prognosis of gastric cancer. There are several cohort studies reported that low serum cholesterol levels are associated with incident cancer, including gastric cancer. However, most studies regarding the serum cholesterol and gastric cancer investigated gastrectomized patients, and showed the association between low serum cholesterol levels and lymph node metastasis or submucosal invasion. Furthermore, there are only few studies evaluated the association between LDL-C of apolipoproteins and gastric cancer. Therefore investigators conducted nested case-control study to investigate the association between serum cholesterol levels including TC, HDL-C, LDL-C, triglyceride (TG), apolipoproteins and gastric neoplasm. In addition, further analyses were performed to evaluate the possible role of the serum cholesterol as a predictor for the differentiation and prognosis of gastric neoplasm.

Serum cholesterol levels including TC, HDL-C, LDL-C, triglyceride (TG), apolipoproteins will be checked and compared in paitents with and withoutgastric neoplasm.

1. Degree of decresed serum cholesterol levels including TC, HDL-C, LDL-C, triglyceride (TG), apolipoproteins in patients with gastric neoplasm compare to the patients without gastric neoplasm.
2. Degree of decresed serum cholesterol levels including TC, HDL-C, LDL-C, triglyceride (TG), apolipoproteins in patients with gastric neoplasm according to the stage of gastric neoplasm.

The cohort data of patients with NSCLC will follow up from diagnosis, treatment response and final survival. Fibrocytes will be checked on the date of diagnsis (before treatment), re-staing (3months after treatment) and disease progression.

The investigators will collect fibrocytes (CD45+Col-1+) in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The investigators hypothesize that patients with NSCLC experience expansion of immunosuppressive fibrocytes, which are predicted to augment tumor growth by mediating immune escape in NSCLC patients.

Fibrocytes have been described in both mice and humans, where they bear a hematopoietic progenitor phenotype (CD45+Col-1+). Fibrocytes have previously been described in murine cancer, implicated as mediators of tumor immune escape. In this study, the investigators will collect fibrocytes including CD45+Col-1+ expression. The cells express indoleamine oxidase, which is primarily responsible for their immunosuppressive properties. The investigators hypothesize that patients with non-small cell lung cancer experience expansion of immunosuppressive fibrocytes, which are predicted to augment tumor growth by mediating immune escape in non-small cell lung cancer patients.

The goal of this study is to help determine the biochemical mechanisms underlying previously demonstrated health benefits of prayer, and to track humoral changes in various prayer activities.

The purpose of this pilot study is to investigate certain biological mechanisms that may underlie the beneficial effects seen among cancer patients who pray. It will evaluate the effect of prayer on humoral (including biochemical/physiological inflammatory/immune) parameters, monitor changes in cancer related biomarkers and evaluate the effect of prayer on blood pressure, quality of life, health and dietary habits in relation to prayer activities, using validated questionnaires.
