Patients with loco-regional, NSCLC treated by definitive radiotherapy.

60Gy in 6 weeks, 50Gy in 4 weeks. Each individual fraction should not exceed 2.5Gy.

The main aim is to determine, in patients with locoregional, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treated by definitive radiotherapy, the influence on survival of the volume of primary tumour, as measured from CT imaging, after adjusting for the effect of the current TNM staging system and other known prognostic factors (especially ECOG performance and weight loss).

Patients with locoregional non small cell lung cancer are registered on study after tumour volumes are outlined by a radiologist and prior to the commencement of any treatment.

All patients must have recorded the volume of disease in the primary tumour (and of involved nodes \> 1 cm diameter) as measured from a CT scan performed according to a standard set of conditions.

Following registration patients are treated with Definitive radiotherapy with or without chemotherapy. Follow-up will occur with the collection of a minimum amount of data every 12 months from the date of registration on study.

Quality Assurance procedures will be implemented with each site that participates in the study.

At the time of diagnosis, approximately 60%-80% of patients with hypopharyngeal cancer are found with cervical lymph node metastasis. Cervical nodal metastasis is an important prognostic factor in hypopharyngeal cancer. Induction chemotherapy is frequently used in advanced hypopharynx cancer. However, sometimes CR was obtained at the tumor's primary site but not in the palpable lymph nodes in the neck, the large cervical lymph node metastasis poorly responded to induction chemotherapy in a considerable percentage of patients. At present, patients with primary tumor achieved CR preferred to receive definitive radiotherapy no matter cervical lymph node metastasis SD or progression. But, radiotherapy was poor effective to the big cervical lymph node metastasis, because the inner of big cervical lymph node metastasis was hypoxic and necrosis. The investigators conducted a prospective, randomised trial to compare neck dissection with definitive radiotherapy for advanced hypopharyngeal cancer cervical lymph node metastasis with poor response to induction chemotherapy.

So far, there is no specific clinical guideline for elderly patients (\>75 yr) with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Patients with locally advanced ESCC were enrolled and randomly assigned to either definitive radiotherapy group (61.2Gy/34Fx） or the chemoradiotherapy group (50.4Gy/28Fx；Paclitaxel plus carboplatin). The primary end point was 3-year overall survival (OS). The second end points included life quality, radiation side effects and 3-yr cancer specific survival.

Up to now, definitive radiotherapy was major treatment plan for elderly ESCC patients. However, whether elective elderly patients can obtain survival benefits through chemoradiotherapy is not clear. Thus we design the clinical trail to answer the question.

Three hundred and twenty elderly patients with ESCC would be recruited. There are two stratification factors including 80 years old and lymph node metastasis. The patients in the chemoradiotherapy group were treated with paclitaxel (45mg/m2) and carboplatin (AUC=2) one cycle per week for five cycles.The primary end point was 3-year overall survival (OS). The second end points included life quality, radiation side effects and 3-yr cancer specific survival. The life quality questionnaire included QlQ-C30 and OES-18.

Phase III Study of Concurrent Radiotherapy in Elderly Patients With Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma (ESO-Shanghai 15)

This trial is a multi-center phase III clinical trial. The purpose of this trial is to explore whether concurrent chemoradiotherapy is not inferior to induction chemotherapy combined with concurrent chemoradiotherapy in patients with locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Defined as the time from randomization to tumor recurrence, distant metastasis, or death due to any reason, whichever occurs first. Patients who withdraw or who are lost to follow-up will be censored at the date last known to be alive and progression free. Adverse events during the treatment period will be assessed according to the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE, version 5.0). Late AE of radiotherapy will be assessed according to RTOG criteria.
